To know Bunk, is to love Bunk. Alec "Bunk" Wurth is the type of guy you meet and never forget. Whether he is lip syncing to his favorite artist, Neil Diamond, on the jukebox or BBQing for friends in his backyard, Bunk is truly one of a kind.

Bunk is an Orange County boy born and bred. He graduated from Servite High School in 1988. While there he played football and track. He then went to Cal State University Fullerton, graduating with a degree in Art. He went on to earn an MA in Special Education and became active in local charities which promote education for autistic and severely disabled children, including the Special Olympics. Bunk has taught at the Speech and Language Development Center (www.sldc.net), a small private school in Buena Park. He teaches children with communications disorders and multiple handicapping conditions who could not function in public schools. He does all of this with great love, respect, and a keen sense of humor. He steps up to the plate when others don't and now it is our turn to help him!

Bunk plays rugby for the Orange County Bucks. Two weeks ago, he was injured during a game in Eagle Rock. He was taken to a nearby trauma center by ambulance where it was announced that he had a broken C4 vertebrae and a damaged spinal cord. He underwent 11+ hours of surgery once he was stabilized. The surgery was a success and his vertebrae was fused together and his spinal cord was untangled and put back in place. He is now waiting to be transferred to the Craig Institute in Denver, Colorado, the best facility for spinal cord rehab in the country. It is also extremely expensive and his insurance will not cover much of it. Now doctors say we just have to wait and see what will happen.

Bunk is only 36 years old. He is an avid sports fan who has played rugby, soccer, basketball, fishing, softball, and surfed local beaches for over a decade. Everyone who knows Bunk realizes he would be the first to help us but now he needs our help. We want to make his future as bright as possible. The money we raise will help do that.
